An Interview with Jared – My Young Beta Reader

A few weeks ago, I sent my completed novel out to family and friends and the feedback has begun to trickle in. My book, Relic Rats, is a fantasy adventure story for readers aged 8-12 years.

The book was well received by my friend’s 12-year-old son, Jared, who was one of my beta readers.

He had the following to say:

Jared: The book was amazing!

Tonia: What was your favorite part?

Jared: My favorite part of the book would have to be when Burly jumped onto the Simurgh herself! That was amazing how he’d wrestled Naramsu in mid air while she was in the form of the Simurgh. It is amazing how much bravery you gave Burly.

Tonia: What was your least favorite part?

Jared: I didn’t really have a least favorite part but if i had to choose … I couldn’t! Everything about the book was awesome!

Tonia: Would you read the next book in the series?

Jared: I would totally read the next book in the series! Why wouldn’t I. I mean I loved the first book, I would totally want to read the next! (it will just be one more series out of 6 I am already on my mum’s case about!) 

Jared is 12 years old and lives with his mum in Brisbane, Australia.
